I had the tremendous pleasure of recording this music after spending a year or so studying with Ari and Drew in New York City. Both of these gentlemen have been formative for my musical development. Listening to records and concerts featuring Drew or Ari were ... instrumental ... in forming my concept of trio playing, so to work with both of them together was like going to some sort of adult fantasy jazz camp!

This album features four of my original tunes and arrangements of music written by Jaki Byard, Charles Mingus, Wayne Shorter and Billy Strayhorn. You know, a jazz record!

Big big thanks to Drew and Ari as well as David Sikula, Tyler McDiarmid, D'Arcy Blake, Susan and Michael Blake, Claudia Arisso, Tima Volozh, Warren Louie, Arnie Sainz Co, Nic Bermudez, and Lyle Hopkins, special thanks to Adam Rogers for kickin' my ass in gear.
